WHY BUDDY BELTS ?

WHY BUDDY BELTS ?

3 points why Buddy Belt is “dog friendly”.

① No chokes
The harness does not touch the neck (trachea ) then no chokes annoy the dogs.

— The trachea(windpipe) is above the protruding sternum. Many vest-type harnesses are worn above the sternum, which can put pressure on the trachea.

② No slip-outs
Fits their bodies without the legs slipping out.

③ Support the body on the chest

Have your dogs ever had cough (breathing sound) like those ?

What is the “Collapsed Trachea” ?

Collapsed trachea is a respiratory disease specific to dogs. It is a progressive disease in which the trachea, which is normally cylindrical, collapses due to pressure on the neck, making it impossible for the dog to breathe. When the trachea is damaged, the dog cannot breathe properly and coughs like a goose, making sounds like “quack”, “gargle”, “burp” or something looking disorder.

What causes the collapsed trachea ?

The cause of collapsed trachea is often genetic, but it is also said that it is due to obesity, a hot and humid environment, excessive barking, and compression of the trachea by pulling on the lead. If the trachea continues to be compressed by a collar on the daily basis, there is a risk that the collapsed trachea will progress further.

What if the collapsed trachea progresses….?

Collapsed trachea is divided into four grades, and as it progresses, it becomes easier to get coughed up when eating or drinking water, and in severe cases, it can interfere with daily life, such as not being able to sleep due to coughing or being unable to lower your head due to pain. This can cause breathing difficulties, leading to an inability to regulate body temperature through breathing, and ultimately putting the patient’s life at risk… Furthermore, if treatment is delayed, even if the patient’s life is saved, damage to the brain or lungs may persist.

!! Once the trachea is collapsed, it will never be recovered to its original shape.
Let’s take the preventative cares on a daily basis. Selecting the proper harness is what we can do for them.

It is sometimes said ,the harnesses ,not the collors are recommended to prevent tracheal collapse, but in fact, not all harnesses are effective.

The part of the trachea that should not be compressed is above the protruding sternum. We often hear that “harnesses are good for preventing tracheal collapse,” but most harnesses used by dogs cover above the sternum, which can compress the trachea and cause tracheal collapse. Choosing a harness is important for your dog’s health and even life. The Canadian-born BUDDY BELT was designed through repeated trial and error to reduce the burden on your dog’s body, and has a shape like glasses that does not put strain on the trachea. This harness is recommended by veterinarians specializing in the respiratory system, and is suitable for dogs that have a habit of pulling, dogs that cough when their neck is compressed, and dogs with damaged cervical vertebrae.
